Just when YOU Think you seen it all....This happens LOL

Thats awesome!!! I wonder what regulations that will fall under?

I was thinking about this the other day, specifically, manned quadcopters and why we really dont see them. The tech exists. And I came to this conclusion: both helicopters and planes CAN land unpowered, but in a quadcopter, if the power fails, it drops. As cool as they are, would you really want to fly one??

Gosh good point , or swam of bees and he has to use hands --then who's flying this thing ,Um birdstrike might hurt a bit lol

Perhaps parachutes are the answer. There would need to a minimum altitude maintained by the craft at which the parachute would function properly in an emergency, but it seems plausible. To me it seems incredibly awesome. Maybe 5 years out but that's ok. Gives me time to save up LOL

IF it used a parachute emergency deploy parachute system IT would have to be the same kind that powered hang gliders use and small home built gyros ect....Its a frame mounted mortar tube that shoots a parachute up in the air...to bring the craft and pilot down safely even at low altitudes !

Several Light Sport Aircrafts ( ie Pipestral Alpha )that my instructor used has a recovery chute fitted as an optional extra. The firing cartridge need to be replaced if unused after a certain time !

I love it ...

He's using what looks like a FrSky RC radio as control ... so that's obvious they adapted Multi Rotor Flight Controller etc. for the job.

Given the power output of large Brushless motors today - the most limiting factor I would assume to be the flight time / battery issue.

I think if I was to design anything like it - I would like the props to be above me ... so if anything did happen - at least they are up away from me.

When can I have one !!!!

The FAA and CAA Regulations guys that draft the latest flight rules for UVA’s and now MVA’s have just burst into tears and are sobbing on each other’s shoulders.

Anyone want to buy my (3) Phantom Squadron with loads of batteries, back-packs and extras? All low mileage and in good nick.

Absolutely no take-off with anything less than 100% fully charged batteries, including the reserve(s). :p

The truth is though that for at least a couple of years - there have been multi-rotor flights by various people trying to develop this concept.
One that comes to mind was what looked like a flying bed surrounded by many motors / props ... must have been over 40 of them !

Have a gander through this lot !!

man carrying drone - YouTube

I've actually seen and looked inside the prototype for Dubai ... it was at Geneva Motor Show ...

I don't think it will take a long time or batteries will be developed that can be used for longer. Due to an increase in electric cars, it is interesting for the industry to go further in the development of batteries for longer use. And then drones - like this one - can use it also.

If the Fuel Cell tech ever gets sorted ... it will be a titanic upheaval of all manner such as E-Cars etc.

Don't forget already we have E-Formula racing ... duration and speed is there.
