Video editing

I'm looking to start editing video and photos. I'm going to buy a Mac in the near future but for now I just have the iPad. Any ideas as to what software or program I can use to edit for beginners and something that isn't going to break the bank. After I get the Mac and better at editing, I will purchase a good program. Thanks for any input

The Macintosh comes with iMovie, which is totally fine for making great videos. You can spend much more for other video editing programs, but they also have a pretty steep learning curve.
