Tips on estimating obstacle height

Guys, I often fly over wooded areas and want to fly reasonably above the trees to avoid crashes, but don't want to be unnecessarily high.
Do you guys have any tips or tools to estimate how high you should fly to avoid obstacles?

Yep - level the camera, then fly up until the tops of the trees is below the level of the mid-point of the screen and note the height. If you fly in excess of that height, you should be ok.
