Has anyone had had issue with with the picture , at a certain altitude , not done the firmware update on the controller yet

I haven't had any issues with mine. The connection will probably be rock solid if you use an OTG cable (like this one).

Wow, I didn't think this would work. Does this then, not require the controller wifi connection?

No Wi-Fi connection is needed.
