This might be a different topic but... has anyone tried using Flysights vTx with the Black Pearl? It has to be better reception than the IRC 600, and the difference in cost of the antennas you'll have to buy.

Just got home and there is a note through my door saying my next door neighbour took in my package containing my new antenna set. Now I got to hope he comes back home himself before dark so that I can try them. :geek:

thongbong You are correct there just did not see the point in buying an Uno reciever as well as a Bp but i think if it was me then i would buy the BP first and see how it performs before buying an Uno .Ive seen the Bp in action an its seemed ok to look at and performed ok .

Signal seems pretty good at 800m, especially for only a 25mW transmitter!
A more expensive option, considering a screen needs to be added to the shopping list, but is this the way to go?

Somewhat independent of this thread, I bought three types of cloverleaf antennas and a Circular Wireless helical. Here is the test I did (this was updated to shorten it and to add comments - still kinda long):

The video is long but I wanted to show the full range for each combination. With three sets of antennas the number of combinations was huge so I just picked three. All three went BVR for me (not something I normally do). The helical was the hands down winner.

I used a Diversity receiver (dual rx) and a TS 806 (actually labeled TS 832 and similar to the Boscam 600 mw). I have one on the Phantom and one on the F550. Lots of chatter about them but both mine work fine. For the helical test, I put a stick antenna in one rx port and the helical in the other. The helical has a narrower reception pattern so it has to be aimed - but is easy to use once the aircraft gets out a ways. The other antenna in the rx allows me to get the aircraft up and positioned without losing video - and allows me to dink around in the general area without issues.

Higher would give better results but I wanted to keep it where I would likely use it. I could also mess with the antenna placement on the aircraft and a host of other variables. If you notice with the stick and clover leaf antennas, turning the aircraft around (thus shading part of the antenna which was on the rear) caused significant noise and distortion. This would be helped (a lot) if I had some altitude. However, using a stick antenna on the aircraft, the helical and making the same turn, I had almost zero noise show up at 550 meters. So even with shading the antenna, the helical was still able to get a good signal.
BTW - losing the signal on turning was a bit heart stopping - I'm not a BVR guy at all. Trusting it to do what I commanded took a leap of faith. I could have just turned the radio off but there was a principle. ;-} Finally hearing the rotors at about 280 meters and then spotting the airframe was quite satisfying.
My aim was to compare apples to apples for what I would be doing. I think the helical is the bee's knees. The CW version is expensive but I think IB Crazy has some at a good price, too. The CW version is extremely well made and is almost a work of art. It uses a laser cut lattice structure, comes with adapters for any SMA configuration, etc. It also has a complete set of specs with lobe definition and all that. It isn't a toy but it isn't terribly priced since it works so well - makes a marginal FPV setup into a very solid one.

what kind of receiver did you use? or is it a monitor receiver. anyway it's sucks man. you are wasting the true performance of the antennas you got. I can see the helical performed the best but my stock 3dbi whip perform 10x better with proper receiver like 5800uno.
I just spotted that. and I have just ordered the foxtech or skyzone D702 which is upgraded of D701 to try. 
I will let you guys know if it better than black pearl.
