(apology for a bit lengthy first post)
I believe i've exhausted/performed every "documented" tries (including re-re-re-install of FW from doing reset at link button) from this forum and elsewhere and i've run out of ideas to try, short of repair as next step.
Who would have thought a "FAN" is a pre-requisite for doing FW update ???!!!
Brief history:
Purchased Phantom 3 Pro from Best Buy back in December 2015. (Yes, December 2015, not a typo).
Stayed in the box.
Today, yes, ~4 years later, decided to bring it out and set it up, starting with firmware update to the latest, P3X_FW_V01.11.0020.bin file. What was i thinking.....
(i also own DJI's Spark and Mavic Air, and was in NO WAY prepared to face what was to follow from this what i had expected as "routine" FW upgrade, only to find, there was NOTHING short of being "routine" about this P3P FW upgrade)
Suffice to say, after spending ~3 hours researching online, i believe my FW update failure has already been covered by numerous others, essentially the 8/15 faults.
My question is, does following screen really is saying my P3P's 1 year warranty starts today?
I do opt for DJI Care Refresh on other drones, and looking for similar with P3P, there is no option for it (obvious, based on the age of P3P).
My timeline today was:
a) New microsd card, 64 GB, formatted as extfat
b) put P3X_FW_V01.11.0020.bin on root directory
c) removed props, removed battery
d) inserted sd card, inserted battery
e) powered on P3P
f) usual startup sequence of lights and beeps, until ...
g) D.............. sound with red light at the camera <<------------ firmware update failed
h) decided to go over to the app and remote control, and update RC, versions seem to be all okay, notably the AC version is 1.11.20, <<------------- not suprising, since others have also reported even after FW update fails, the AC (aircraft) version still shows in app as 1.11.20,
i) ignoring FW update failure, powered off and powered back on AC and RC, and greeted with dreaded No Image Transmission Signal <<------------ read that perhaps mismatch in the encryption, and since gimbal control works (i.e. up/down), thought AC can still take video and picture to SD card, but nothing is saved, so seems the camera/gimbal got nuked during FW update...............
Why does the RC version show as 1.9.2 (after restarting RC), when above said updated successfully to 1.9.3 ?
I did read that 1.9.3 is only for Phantom 4, though i also read that RC with C1 for P3P is supposed to run 1.9.3 (or is that 1.9.2), confusing...
