Yes - I've used the same mount spot since day 1 without any issues.

Do you have to remove the tracker before being able to remove the battery? If so, why block the release tab on the battery?

I do, but it's just mounted with Velcro. You have a good point thought - I suppose I could rotate it 90 degrees to allow for quick release of the battery.
