Did you see the FAA just granted an exemption to some guy in the midwest to do surveying for crops, maybe you could get lucky?
I am not sure why it is such a big deal. I can't spray the crops using a phantom. All I was going to do is fly over them to look for bad spots in the crops. Don't seem like that big of a deal to me.
Are you selling your crops? Is your UAV making you more efficient at selling them thusly making you more money?
