New way to lose your drone

It has been stated that a quad hovering uses more energy than if it has some horizontal motion. However, there seems to be a "sweet spot" speed after which the power consumption goes up. Do we know if DJI was aware of this for RTH?

I did this video hovering and yes it does consume more power than flying at speed. So do pay attention. I was above 10350ft altitude filming a sunrise over the peaks above 13000 ft about 8 miles away. Air is also thinner so props spinning faster to hover as well most likely..

I want to know how the heck you get 3000 meters from your drone??!! With my Phantom 4, I'm lucky to get 2500 feet (distance) in optimum conditions!

I get 15000 distance on my P3S with an Argtek Antenna and fly away from cities that have a lot of terrestrial interference.
