That might be a better idea - probably end up with around the same flight time in your video - however it would likely be a lot less strain on your Phantom!

When you increase the weight of the Phantom then your batteries must supply more amps -- by having to do that, it will result in less life (flying time) than what you calculate.

Keep in mind that "Ah" is a measure of “current capacity”and not “energy capacity”.

Not unusual to find different batteries with the same "Ah" that will have a completely different amount of total energy.

Anyway - as noted you did a nice job with your Phantom - and it looks like you truly enjoy the hobby.

I am quiet new to this and I absolutely love it

I have about 9 hours flight tine and 125 km.
My goal is to fly long flights

have this nice setup: (see picture) with standart battery, witch has aloved me to fly 5 km out and 5 back and a little around close by, so 13 km total 22 min. Had to stop because of battery.
Goal would be 8-10 km out with the battery mod

(I am doing this along a beach here so I keep it legal

The titan cyclone is amplified (2x 3w sunhans) and battery boosted, it's slightly neater set up than the 4hawks, with the T-mount I can swap the panel between my P4, P4P, Mavic and Spark controllers quickly and easily, that's why I went this way

Now that looks like an even better setup in that photo with the tripod mount - you have a nice n neat "Ground Station" of sorts. Looks great.

Good luck with your distance flights - that's not something I have ever gotten brave enough to do - will keep an eye out for your future flights.

Not sure what the record is but I am very exited to tell you that I did 24 km today 11.5 out and 11,5 back then a little around before landing! Had 16% power left when I came back

You would have had the world record if you had used all your battery life, the longest return trip I've seen (youtube) is 29.1km, they could have extended it by another minute after the battery hits 0%

I use LIHV batteries, they are lighter than Lipo.
So total 700 grams more (350 pr battery)
It flys fine but a little heavy turning.
Phantom 4 advanced plus can lift 12-1400 grams so it is far from limit.

Little problem is that the phantom lands at 10% and I cant get around that.... (I guess)
Anyway 30 km is my goal now

I think I will make it, i returned and still had 14% battery after 24200 meters

30km would be amazing, you will need the perfect day and take a lot of risks with battery power

LiHV are LiPo. They aren’t lighter but will take a higher permissible voltage.

Well I know Lihv is Lipo, but LIHV has more capacity on the same weight, as you see about same weight for a 4s, but 300 mah more on the LIHV vs Lipo
Also the LIPO pack is a little larger.

Im not sure you have a choice but to use LiHV given the stock DJI pack is LiHV. You should expect around 10% greater usable capacity due to higher permissible terminal voltage. What is interesting is the LiHV you have referenced has significantly lower C rating- this is typical- there is no free lunch. Based on your quoted specs the LiHV is 18% larger than the standard LiPO.

You are getting some very impressive distance, looking forward to seeing how you progress with this. Something tells me you aren’t satisfied you have taken this as far as it can go yet.

For sure it is difficult to find the perfect setup, and the best compromise between weight and power...

first I charged the LIHV batteries to 4,20 v pr sell (same as standart LIPO) but now I am running the LIHV up to standart 4.35v pr cell, the dangerous part in that is that the default DJI LIPO battery will be overcharged,,,, so solution is to connect the LIHV batteries secunds before taking of, that way it should be okay because the craft is starting usuin power straight away

I am very happy now with my personal record 24300m 11500m out and 11500m back again, (and the rest around before landing) but really my goal is to beat the world record

For info I tryed to add 4x (1c 2200mah) more to the craft, but almost crashed because it was too heavy

just curious as to what kind of strain this is truly putting on the factory Motors, and as a result reducing the life expectancy.

You are right, this must be putting a lot of presure on all parts, I also did mods to the parameters, so more speed tilt ect. I am well award that the waranty is gone long time ago

(this craft is just for testing)
