Why is it DJI hasnt built in a monitor yet like Karma had. ???

A built-in monitor would be a huge negative in my eyes. It's not adjustable.

Many of us thoroughly like the ability to pick/change what display we use. I tend to fly several consecutive batteries in a single flying session and more than a couple of times my iPad battery was low and I was able to easily swap it out for my iPhone and keep on flying.

Correct. You can choose between the RC with the tablet mount (like the P4) or the RC with the monitor permanently attached.

For another $300. Thinking id rather put it towards a functional tablet.
