Modify my RE500 or Buy the RE700?

I am presently using the crappy RE500 and dropping my video. With all the antenna mods out there like FPVLR or the Itelite should I just put on one of these antennas and call it a day or buy the RE700 and modify that? The first choice is of course cheaper (mod RE500) and not sure if my extended range will be any better than the RE700 modified. Haven't seen anything other than switching to the newer Range extender and has anyone done a test with both the RE500 & RE700 with modified antenna. Just curious how much more range would it buy me?/ Thank you in advance and still a newbie. Just got this P2 Vision as a hand me down from a close friend

Been there done that . RE700 is the only way to go.
Do some reading back in this section and you will see.

RE700 makes a huge difference. Add a simple parabolic reflector too.

My otherwise stock range went from 400 to 600m solely by buying an RE700. 50% increase.

I switched to an Re700 about 1 month after getting my P2V, with the 500 I got about 700ft and then lost FPV with the 700 I got around 1800ft. I added the Itelite system and pushed out to 6000ft.
