Anyways... I think POI will replace the "Home Lock IOC" and DJI wants us to use the RTH button or fly her back manually instead of activating HL IOC and pulling the right stick down.
Although I can imagine POI being useful (circling a building or structure automatically), what would be some uses for Waypoint?

I agree totally with sky king. My P3A has been my most solid Phantom ever. I have also taken all the FW updates with zero problems. I never had any problems with my P1.1.1 but this thing hands down is the best Phantom experience yet.Personally, I've upgraded every FW when it came out. I had 2 bad experiences with P2's and since I've gone to the P3P, I've had zero problems (that weren't my fault). I've had 2 crashes (both were tree "magnets) and had to replace the shell. I am much more patient with start up & take-off than I used to be. I don't fear distance and have a Trackimo velcroed to my battery. I am honing my situational awareness and being very deliberate in my "shoots." I know others have had problems but I just have not had those. I did get a "extremely low voltage" warning the other day on an ascent, but landed right away and have not had that message pop up since. I use DJI Go app and, so far, I am extremely pleased with my P3P experience.

Waypoint would be awesome and I'd use it all the time. It depends on how much fine control I have over each waypoint. I'd like to not only be able to specify an altitude but also the speed that it flies there and also how long to remain at a particular waypoint. Think of it as similar to keyframing in videos. I would then set my flight path and essentially be free to control the camera while the Phantom does the flying. It'll take a bit of planning but I'd rather do that all day long.
I'm sure other people have their own uses for waypoint but that would be mine.
That I could do.. Use course lock.Well keep in mind a 2 way point mission makes a nice cable cam. You can rotate, tilt and move point A to B in a manner its about impossible to do with your fingers.
DJI hasn't made it clear on the difference between GroundStation (Vision) vs Waypoint (Go/Pilot). GroundStation felt limited as the camera was restricted to tilt up/down. I hope the Waypoint has more intelligence, enabling the ability to yaw on a programmed flight path. I also hope they have the ability to curve the turn when it enters and exits each waypoint. The stop then turn feels very robotic and less fluid. I hope I aint asking too much..

Yup... Just like that. I have a bunch of examples. But yuou cant see themIf you guys want to get a glimpse of how waypoints and these features will look, check out the following video and go to 2:22:
