Very nice work. I’ve done this with video but never thought about doing it with aerial footage. Funny how you sometimes overlook obvious things in front of you.
The effect is most effective with scenes with low contrast which is why your night scene didnt work as well. The same thing will happen with bright scenes like clouds. The ski scene would look great during the day. I have found angles around 30-60 degrees work best for the effect. If you also increase the saturation of the video, it really helps to sell it. Most little models have that bright plastic color to them.
