I'm trying to update my firmware to 1.8.10. While I was updating the camera started to look like it was having a seizure and the update froze at 40%. I gave up and when I turned the aircraft back on to try it again the aircraft started alarming an alarm I've never heard before. Any ideas?

Sounds like it did not complete the update.
I've heard that it can take a while to complete.

The alarm sound should eventually stop if you let the firmware update process continue until it completes.
