The side sensors are only active in beginner mode and tripod mode.

The obstacle avoidance system is not magic and has a number of limitations.

The crash was caused by pilot error, so DJI will not cover it under their warranty.
 
whats the purpose of having them if they are only on in beginner mode and tripod mode. I did not know that. It beeped on the branches. I thought they worked like the front ones. Same principle at least.
 
It depends on what's broken. DJI has a part and service fee list here.
 
If by chance you charged the purchase on an American Express card you have a accident/theft protection on your credit card, as well as a 1 year extension in addition to any/all manufacturers warranty.
You could try to get it covered that way if you used the AMX.
 
I would say no warranty, I wouldn't rely on perceived technology regardless of what the manual says. I live in a forest and I fly manually until I'm clear of obstacles, you've got bigger balls than me..
