DJL123, I'm sure your parents and teachers are very proud.Just a thought. You can take it with a grain of salt.
So if I understand your strategy, you crash your drone and send them a flight record from a previous successful flight thinking DJI will never find the .dat file on the AC?

I'm also curious how attempting to pass responsibility for your own actions onto someone else is a good thing.
@CharlieU .....In response to @LarBear360 Is this the location you were flying???View attachment 96492
Dude, what kind of remark is that suggesting I'm trying to pull some kind of scam? I don't think you understand anything that has been said here. I think the rules here are if you aren't being helpful don't post. Probably best to keep your sarcasm to yourself. So if I understand your strategy, you crash your drone and send them a flight record from a previous successful flight thinking DJI will never find the .dat file on the AC?
I'm also curious how attempting to pass responsibility for your own actions onto someone else is a good thing.

Dear Charles,
Thank you for contacting DJI.
We have tried to do data analysis with the information you provided regarding your case CAS-xxxxxx-xxxxxx, however, we can't analyze it because of various reasons.

I sync'd the records and sent them additional info they asked for. I've never sync'd the flight logs before and didn't know how. Pretty nice to be able to play back the animation with data. DJI covered my Phantom 4 under warranty in March 2017. They didn't ask for anything but I did send the link to Airdata and pictures of the crash site.
Right or Wrong, they go by the data collected in the .dat file from the AC.
Anything that is even remotely obvious will nullify what you may consider a "Legitimate" claim for warranty.
Yeah you are right. The people are good neighbors of mine but still would not be happy with the invasion of privacy.Looking at the picture....."Just be dang glad.. that the wall was their to take the impact And not One of the windows on the other side !
a good link Will DJI cover out of warranty P3A
I'm finding that out. I returned to the crash site which is only a block from my house. I looked at the total area above, below and around trying to determine why DJI said pilot error. I then looked over the flight data again. The possibility I see is the quad was under the tree with the yellow flowers in the picture below, . I could see on the video feed rising terrain. At 5.5 mph I most likely thought I could climb to avoid terrain and flew up into the small bottom branches of the tree. The quad then fell 11 or 12 feet to the ground upside down. I say upside-down because all the carbon reinforced props were broken, prop caps were off, the gimbal-camera was detached and the battery ejected. The broken plaster mark on the wall was probably old age and lack of attention.
I appreciate all of the input here. Very helpful in clearing my head and not laying awake at night thinking about this. I am going to accept my $99 Phantom 4 Pro. I still have my two P4's and a P3S. I know about data sync now. Thanks again.
Definition of ETHICMy friend had the exact same repose so we learned to sync our flight after every successful sessions. Same goes for the data from the DJI Go App. We save them. If we ever have a crash, we don’t sync and send them the last successful flight data. Little effort goes a long way.

I don’t even get how this would even work if he was making a claim for a destroyed or lost aircraft. DJI would see a flight that ended in a successful landing - most probably back at the same home point.I get it. You will try to defraud them via US Mail. Smart.
Next time buy your drone from Best Buy and get their warranty. They will cover for two years and any crash, other than an intentional crash, is covered.NON-WARRANTY PER DATA ANALYSIS. User stick command error FLY257 1. Unit was in P-GPS mode and was responsive to RC input; 2. At t=315s, relative height=14.3m, unit recorded external impact, then fell. 3. User commanded pitch forward and throttle up before impact. Unit was ascending while pitching forward putting obstruction outside of detection zone. 4. GPS overlay shows user crashed into a tree. Incident date: 3/10/18 Incident GPS location: 33.8037000 -112.1142459 Conclusion: User stick command error. Impact in air. [Non warranty Repair] Dear Customer, Unfortunately, damage that is not caused by a product malfunction or is out of the warranty period is not covered by DJI aftersales policy. We will either repair it or replace it with a product that's new or equivalent to new in both performance and reliability after payment has been received.
WARNING: Do not try to ascent or turn while approaching an object to avoid that object. "Unit was ascending while pitching forward putting obstruction outside of detection zone." My P4P was traveling at 4.5 mph when it struck a block wall. Guess I should have just flown straight into the wall. I paid the $99 with DJI Care for a replacement rather than turn it in to State Farm with no deductible. It would have cost $345 to repair and I think plus shipping. With the cost of DJI Care the total comes to $248. The warranty along with DJI Care ran out two days after I filed the claim. My State Farm policy was effective 45 days ago which hopefully I won't be needing.

His claim was not an aftersales warranty claim. If it were, it would not be valid as this was clearly pilot error. That's what DJI Care is for. And tha's exactly why it only cost $99.
By the way, if you enter those coordinates into Google Earth there are no walls there, only trees.
No warnings I was flying about 5 miles per hour looking for a small drone that got caught in the wind. I would have been with in obstacle avoidance distance from the wall if I continued straight ahead about 3 ft farther without any control input. I thought I could climb up over the wall. Unfortunately I was under a tree at the time. 3 ft farther I would have been past the tree and been able to climb okay. The replacement Phantom 4 Pro is supposed to arrive on Monday. According to the serial number it's new and not refurbished. There is no R in the serial number.CharlieU,
I'm curious if you were getting any Warnings from your obstical avoidance system before the crash? You mentioned shadows in the picture. Where was the aircraft in relation to the shadows?
I had a crash indoors because my sensors were moving the aircraft away from a bright light source (LED TV) into a darker area of the lighted room where the sensors were not picking up the objects. The aircraft sensors on the front side facing the TV was pushing the aircraft backwards 6 feet while not sufficent enough light to detect rear sensor objects reliably. LESSON LEARNED: My $17 investment in prop guards would have prevented my incident had I been using them at the time.
