Controller dissconected inflight!

Hello, I would like to know what happen if my controller gets dissconected inflight? The drone should return to home, but how can I connect it again? Why does this happen?
Today My controller got dissconected for 5 seconds when I had the drone 2 miles away from me and I almost had a heart attack because I thought it was never going to conect again and was going to lose the drone
How can I activate RTH without my phone? How can I activate home lock without my phone?

My P3S does. It's the switch on the left side (the "S2" switch). Just toggle it a couple of times to activate RTH.

Home lock needs the app as far as I can see.

Suggestion to OP: Please read that user manual again and again until you understand RTH completely. It is an important feature and one should know before flying.
