CE and FTC mode

I was just watching this you tube video saying that if you switch from ce to ftc it will give you more range. Do any of you know anything about this?

I get the sarcasm but just wondering what the down side of this is. What mode do most people operate in.

It's a legality issue. In some (most?) European countries, the FCC mode is not legal and we have to use CE mode to limit the transmitter power.
