I don't like the fisheye, nor do I like having to fly so close to get a good pic. Is there a way to upgrade the lens on the Vision+ to something better without a fisheye?

That's kind of the idea, you're not suppose to be zooming in on people on the ground. They're for aerial shooting. Not zooming.
Even the GoPro upgrade lens do not allow you to "zoom" or take a picture from far away. If you want to take a picture of something low to the ground, you better hope you have permission.
I'm using it to take pics and video of my team racing. I got permission.

Try the resulution options and they have the second wheel right side of resolution wheel where the symbolic suggests a change between 16:9 and 4:3. My impression is that as the resolution stil remains the same (eg. 1080p) it stays with 16:9 but the wide angle (140degrees?) changes to standard (110 degrees?) Which does of course a lot less fisheye effect.

I use narrow view all the time and am happy with the results.

+1 The narrow FOV setting does not completely remove the fisheye effect, but it reduces it substantially.SpikeFinch said:

I sincerely hope they give us a much higher quality camera on the 3, whenever it comes out. Watching ANY of our videos in 1080 looks like standard def, due to the quality of our cameras. It's frustrating, when there are such good small CCDs out now.
I've had good luck using a program called Prodrenalin (by ProDAD) to process the barreling and 'fisheye' effect on both the P2V+ camera and the GoPro. There are presets to correct the the lens distortion and straighten things like the horizon lines. Check out these two videos for examples. http://www.prodad.com

Prodrenalin does work well. I use the Generic GoPro profile and it effectively de-fishes the video quickly and cleanly. It can also color correct and stabilize.
