So far, a positive take. Why did they give this to the oldest 60 Minutes person...he cant wrap his head around the "new" technology....

I was a bit worried about the power of a 60 Minute piece, but I think that the overall take from that piece was neutral at best. Popular, new uses, and the reality of deliveries,etc, far off.

I liked the idea of dog walking with my phantom. I never considered that. Overall not a bad report. If they do require some kind of certification as mentioned then there is another new industry.

I just watched it - was great seeing Colin on there, must have been recorded several months ago. Colin was a great face for DJI and a really nice guy - I visited him at DJI HQ in Austin and he personally flew my Phantom and gave me a few tips in the parking lot. This was when Phantom Pilots had around 50 users. Colin really loved flying the Phantom and showing it to people, he didn't just sit behind the desk, he actually helped people. I know DJI Customer Service gets bashed around the net, but honestly they only had a limited number of employees in Austin and the Austin branch was staffed only to support the Pro (S800 and Zenmuse Z15) customers. The dealers are supposed to be the ones supporting the Phantom buyers....
But back to the 60 Minutes segment, I do love that they got the oldest guy on there, I'm sure he's a great reporter but they could have used someone who may have had a little more current insight on technology to ask the right questions...

Did anyone notice the gimbal on the larger camera/drone early.in the segment shaking like it was having a gran mal seizure?

If they are going to ban anything, these things should be on the top of the list. At least restricting where you can fly them. I watched a guy learning to fly one of these a few months ago, it got away from him too. Had it hit someone, it could have resulted in a serious situation. I agree. People don't "fly" these things any more. They jerk them around, bounce their blades off the ground, cut crass upside down, see how close they can get to things without cutting them up, and they wonder why they have "mechanical failures". That "acrobatic flying" method looks pretty silly to me: like the thing is out of control. Impressive flying. But kinda "messy" to watch.
