What's the best way to download images and video from my Phantom 4? Also - what's best for editing?

You can change that setting in the Menu. The only choices are MOV and MP4.

Does the USB port wear out faster or the latch holding the SD card? I dont want my card poping out at 400 ft.

I don't think it's anything to worry about. Both the USB port and the MicroSD card slot will most likely last longer than your Phantom.

I've been using both methods for years in other devices (GoPros, phones, tablets etc) without any problems. My preferred method is removing the card and using a card reader.
