Hi all,
DJI Phantom 3 Standard owner here. Crashed my drone into a wall whilst flying at the beach today. Very small crash - it was flying extremely slowly and only about two feet off the ground when it brushed a wall, flipped over and landed propellers into the sand. I reset and lifted off again and it seemed to fly relatively fine after this.
When I took it home and gave it a clean up from the sand, I noticed cracks on two of the arms. See photos attached.
I've seen a few threads on here about cracks on arms, and am still slightly unsure if this will affect anything. Should I glue this up or is it not a concern? What risks are there for flying with these cracks?
Back at my apartment, I also started the motors without the propellers on just to make sure everything was working correctly. Motors started up and spun for a few seconds, and then they stopped and saw an "command timeout" next to lift off button. Then I couldn't start the motors again until I turned everything off and on again. Same thing happened.
Does the DJI phantom 3 Standard know that the propellers aren't screwed on? Is that why it stopped the motors? Or is it something else?
Of course, you're probably all wondering why I don't just screw the propellers back on and see if it lifts off fine and stays flying - however I live right in downtown Hong Kong with a load of tall buildings and not much GPS signal. So the only time I can really fly my drone is when I head out of the urban areas on the weekends!
Thanks everyone.
