Remote controller power increased

Transmitter power increased from --- FCC -20 dBm --> now 23 dBm
CE --14 dBm --> now 17 dBm

Is that a significant increase ??
Does this possible translate to greater range, or better signal quality

Essentially every 3dB represents a doubling of the power.
This does not mean twice the 'range'.

Note that the spec lists it as EIRP (equivalent isotropic radiated power). This is essentially conducted power MINUS cable and connector losses PLUS antenna gain. Google it if you'd like to know more details.

So IMO what they're saying is they have 3dB gain in the OEM antenna while most of the aftermarket antennas folks applied to previous Phantoms (helical, patch) can have 12 or more dBi gain.

Yes, more power will give you more range and 'penetration'.

To get gain from an antenna you need to direct or shape the beam so more energy is directed or focused in a particular direction.

This is what Windsurfers do externally or via 'bolt-on'.

Ever cup your hands behind your ears to hear faint sounds?

This is analogous to Windsurfers as the sound increases (gain) but you need to rotate your head in the direction the sound is coming from (directivity).

gotta account for the additional dB loss from some of the connectors required for the aftermarket antennas though.

It won't already confirmed by DJi staff in another forum. They also confirmed like the P3 an HDMI accessory board will be available later that can be installed in place of the existing board.

Unfortunately, it is accompanied by a 20% reduction in the video power output from the aircraft, over the original W323 P3P.
P4 Power Output for Video is only .598 Watts v. .746 Watts on Original P3P

Thank you. I got confused between the different figures, and have corrected them. It's actually 20%, not 30%. Still, it's a significant reduction at long distance, if the video range performs more like the W323A P3P than the original W323 P3P. Hopefully, it is more like the original W323 P3P in video range.
