Is there a way to remove the display from the p4+v2 controller and use a tablet instead...Or failing that can I use a non + controller with the aircraft? I need to run 3rd party apps.

No you can't remove it but yes you can indeed use a normal P4P v2 controller with a tablet. I like to have both controllers and switch them based on my needs. Just a quick aircraft link procedure and you can switch very easily.

Brilliant thank you for your reply. Could I ask what device you use on the normal p4p v2 controller? I currently use iPad mini2 on my other P4 standard but was worried that it might not be up to the job on the normal p4p v2 controller.

I don't have a P4Pv2. I have the original P4P with two controllers. I'm not an Apple person so my tablets are all Android. If you are suing that iPad on your P4 standard and have no issues then go with that. The aircraft won't make a difference, since on the tablet you are still running the same software (DIJI Go4).

You can find a list of devices commonly used with DJI GO 4 here:

If you're happy with the performance when flying your P4, then you'll be just as happy when flying your P4P V2. Both Phantom models run on the same app (DJI GO 4). The remote controller used has no effect on the performance of the attached mobile device.

Thank you for all your help. Just didn’t want to go to the expense of a second controller so I can run 3 party apps and then to discover I need to upgrade my tablet/device for a faster processor speed.

I have the Phantom 4 Pro Plus V2 with the built-in display. I do a lot of mapping jobs and use drone deploy so I need a remote controller that I can use with out the built-in display. I made the assumption that I could install drone third-party apps.
I'm not sure which app you would like to install, but I have a P4P+ controller (GL300E for my non V2) and install apps from the "Amazon App Store". Install using the built in browser, and see if DroneDeploy can be downloaded...

That was a good step in the right direction so thank you for that. No Drone Deploy app but at least there is hope I just need to research more. Worst case I'll by a RC that I can use my tablet with. I didnt even think to check when I bought this weekend. I just assumed it would allow you to install like a phone would.
