Haven't used my drone in a while .The batteries charge but the controller seems not to be working. When the charger is hooked up the 4 lights seem to just blink kinda of fast . I try to turn the controller on the lights light up in a line then just go off they want stay on showing how much charge in in he controller . Thanks for any help

I (somewhat recklessly in hindsight) purchased a used Phantom 3 Professional/controller/batteries secondhand over facebook marketplace. The previous owner demonstrated about ~5 minutes of flight to show that everything worked. However, when I went to fly the drone, the controller would power on...

Oh dear, care, or lack of, of LiPo batteries.
They should NEVER be left for long periods of time without intermittent discharge/charge.
From your description the RC battery is "FLAT, DEAD".
You can try charging/discharging the RC a few times which might bring life back to the battery but you may have to buy a new one.

I also have a P3P controller that won't charge. When plugged in, only the 1st light blinks, and after a few minutes the charging shuts off. The same happens when I replaced the battery. I have Heat Gunned the associated chips as suggested in on-line videos, no help.
Can I use an externally wired 5, 1.5v batteries in series to power the controller?

You would do better to get 2 cell LiPo battery, open it up and move the cells to side by side. Then it'll fit inside the case!!
