P4 Warm up procedure

Does the P4 have to be on a solid surface while it warms up. In other words can I hold the P4 in my hand while it goes thru the warm up phase.

If you look at the app it should tell you not to move the drone while warming up and initialising,therefore hand holding should not be done.Place it on the ground or on the top of the case until safe to fly.

Not holding it but I warm mine up all the time on an empty box

Just like westray said, the drone should not be moving for proper warm up. the IMU, barometer, GPS, compass, VPS gets' accurate readings before take off. Now will it initialize? sure it will, you can even move it around, it's just better if you don't, you can do it in a boat that's bobbing and it works fine. Also it's much safer for you.
