I downgraded from 1.6.8 to 1.5.7 and finally be able to reach 120m height wind few connection losts (with fast reconnect); in the same field i experienced signal lost at just 20m....

I wanted DJi support to Know it!

Downloaded the bin file here DJI Phantom Accessories & Tips - Phantom Help took a blank microSD and copied it on the root folder. Then turned on the aircraft without SD, Turned on remote and connected smartphone with DJI as usual, then inserted the SD in the camera. The installation automatically starts, wait for a while, that's it! (anyway attention to firmware changes, they could brick the Phantom...)

It is not as stable as the lightbridge equipped phantoms, but now it is at least usable at the distances i am use to fly!

Now I read once again the method, and I forget something: Before every attempt FORMAT the memory card in a PC. Because DJI writes hidden files to the sd card. You can see them, if you switch the folder settings in the windows.

Cheers , think I`ve done it but I also pressed the link button on the side as I started the P3S . I have the red banner now saying a new firmware update available 1.6.80 so it must of downgraded

I will give it a try! By the way, because i can't downgrade, i reload 1.7.82 and went a fly today. As usualy rc signal lost randomly... then i download Litchi and its seems to be more stable. But i dont have enough time to try, but definitly more stable with litchi! Maybe not only the fw the piece of ****, maybe dji go also...

hey guys, so Can someone verify wich of the 1.7 is better? the 82 or the 84 ? because this 50 meter altitude on the 1.6 is making me crazy.

So, the drone has arrived back from the service in Germany.
I feel such an idiot.. paid 50 Euros for shipping to get back, the P3S intact.
As per their techs, my quad perfrorms on specifications.. tested and went 300 m with no video interruption. I thought the specs where 500m???, but mine, cant go no further than 40 - 60 m without losing video feed.
I m fed up with this, and im selling it today. Too bored to bother.

Just wanted to share some of my recent findings while troubleshooting the lost RC signal issue. When I was doing some research on this issue, seems like everybody got slightly different symptoms. so here are mine:

Like everybody, I start having issue after a firmware update (forgot which one, i think is 1.5.7 on my first firmware update)
Video feed may cut off during flight of (grey video), also lost telemetry. LED on RC turn red. Can still control with RC
Doesn't seems to have a repeatable distance where the video will drop off. Can even drop off when it is right in front of the RC
Bring the bird closer does not re-connect. Restart the bird (while leaving RC on) may sometime reconnect (but only for a short amount of time).
argtek upgrade on RC doesn't make a difference.
downgrading from 1.6.8 to 1.5.7 doesn't make much of a difference
When not connected with DJI go app or Litchi. the connection (LED on RC) will stay green a lot longer, sometime connecting with app will make the LED on RC turn red right away.

In my case, it seems to be more of a duration thing versus a range thing most people are experiencing. Furthermore, right after the RC lost the link with the drone and if i restart the drone right away and if the drone does not reconnect, I get the following log data in "MISC/LOG/P3C_FW_LOG_AB.txt" on the SD card:

Where [07 00] is the wifi module on the bird as somebody on this forum mentioned. Turn off the bird for a while will let me connect to RC again, which led me to believe it is a thermal issue on the chip. I have test this by sitting my bird on top of an AC vent and I can remain connected to the app as long as I want, where with it just sitting on the ground with no cooling, I can only be connected for 1 min at best. I have open up the gimbals board and put in thermal pad to sink the heat from the chip to the RF shield/cage on the board, as well as removing the bottom plastic cover on the gimbal control board compartment for better cooling. I haven't have any video drop out during flight since (test at around 300 ft away), while in the past I can only get about a few minute of fly time before video drop out. I haven't have a chance to test longer range yet.

Hello! I have bought a new Phantom 3 Standard that will come in the mail next week. (I have had one that was a camera error on it and i did a refund on that.) I have a quick question. Should I update the firmware on the new drone when i get it or should i just have it there it is??? Sorry for my English.

I'd fly it the way it comes and if you're happy, leave it as is. But I'd also check the app to see which FW version you have, just to know.
