That's what I use for iPhone 7+ or iPad mini2.

No. You could unscrew it and remove it each time, but it won't be very convenient. It would be best to buy a case made to hold the P3P/P3A/P34K remote controller. Or, you could cut out the foam in your existing case if that's possible.

Yes. Flip down the two tabs in the center of the tablet mount.

It does fold up relatively compact. The plastic part that holds the tablet or smartphone folds forward against the face of the remote.
