Is the F mode in P3 = P mode in P4?

P4 only has P, A and S modes. I would assume the P mode in P4 is same as F mode in P3. Is that right?

No. There is no F-mode in the P4. When flying a P4, the IOC modes must be enabled when flying in P-mode.

If DJI make P3 F mode as the default mode in P4, is there any reason/benefit to fly P mode in P3?

You can use VPS. It's disabled when flying in F-mode.
