From YouTube? Yes you can download in MP4 format. It doesn't matter if you are using Apple, Linux or PC. There are websites that allow you to save YouTube videos.

Not sure what you mean by download

Your video files are on the SD card located in the camera housing

Simply plug the SD card into an adaptor and plug it into the pc.

The files on the iPad are just copies of the streamed video that you see on your screen and are of lower quality so I wouldn't bother using those

Thanks, i was having a brain fade, I forgot that the video is saved in mov on the sd card, therefore making the type of computer irrelevant. Now I just have to see if Linux video editing software can do a decent job without to much fuss. Cheers again.
