This is actually a pretty good video for me. I will burn a few batteries and follow the steps. I spend a bunch of time actually trying to "mission fly" for pictures and very little time flying for skill enhancement.

Can you even fly a phantom 4 without a link to some app (no IPAD)?

Yes you can fly without using the app or monitor of any kind.

Trick is to fly high. keep it at 200-300 feet and unless you are in mountainous land you should be fine. (make sure no radio control towers etc... are in the vicinity of where you will fly.
