how can i tell which is broken

my phantom3 standard fails communication with the camera
how can i tell if the problem is the transmitter from the drone
or the receiver in the remote controller?

trying to figure out which to replace.

i can fly the drone just fine using the remote. i can also move the camera up and down with the remote.
i can find the phantom3 wifi on my phone and connect to it.
but the software always says "disconnected"
i've tried all the usual re-syncing techinques but the connection is never made.

so how do i tell if the problem is at the drone's transmitter or at the remote's receiver?

Have you tryed deleteing the app and reinstalling it.
Just a shot in the dark.

Does the LED next to the power switch on the remote control turn green when remote and aircraft are powered up?
if not I'd suspect the problem is in the wifi board in the gimbal.
The remote control acts as a wifi hub that both the aircraft and your phone connect to and as you can connect the phone it looks like the remote's wifi is ok.
