Compass protective shield and repositioning the compass

The new Phantom 2 has compass with protective shield. Anyone tried to open and reposition it? I'm planning to replace my landing gear so I need to make a modification in regards with its placement. I'm just afraid of getting into much deeper problem. Any comment?
