According to news sources a Air Canada commercial airliner almost lands on taxiway at San Francisco International Airport on July 7. Drone pilots are not the the only pilots who make mistakes. He was 30 meters high above the taxiway when ATC told the pilot to go around. This could have been the largest disaster in history as there were four aircraft on the taxi way waiting to takeoff.
Commercial airline pilots make mistakes too.

Yes - you are right - with this qualification. You may not know this - a lot of people don't...so don't feel you are the only one......airplanes are STEERABLE.... And they have a FRONT WINDOW the operators can look out of !
In this particular non-event, the guys screwed up and lined up with a taxi-way instead of a runway. We know from the transcripts that THEY figured it out and expressed THEIR concern to the tower operator. Again...steerable airplane...non-event.
When it is a "slow news day"...what better way to get viewers attention so as to keep the advertisers happy, then put out some "oh gosh - gee whiz" nonsense about aviation ?
