Update the app and firmware if needed. Try again with a full battery. Maybe replace the USB cord. Also, try another device if possible.

Android or iOS? I would recommend closing all apps. Force close background apps (i use Greenify on android for this) and also set phone to "Airplane Mode" with gps/wifi/bluetooth/mobile-data OFF.
