Battery won't power on yet inserting it into the drone immediately causes fans to come on

So my Phantom 4 battery was plugged up after a flight and the next time I went to fly and put the battery Into the drone. Immedietly without pressing buttons the fan came on yet the battery lights don't work and the drone appears to be flightless. Anyone have suggestions?
