I just had a similar experience here in Australia. I wasn't watching my battery levels while I was shooting about 3km from my take off point. I was caught in the moment while filming these cool wind turbines. It was very windy and wasn't going to make it back against the wind.

Luckily I was able to put her down in a safe place after fighting the multiple emergency landing sequences and use the map to find her.
