Almost lost my new Standard today during a mission

Oh yeah, I have heard of it hundreds of times, guys telling stories like yours. But mostly starting with...Oh Lord, I lost my PXX today.

And mostly ending with, "Sorry guys. pilot error......."

It might have gotten to critical battery level and initiated RTH mode. Not sure. But glad you got it back.

Critical battery doesn't initiate RTH, it initiates autolanding.

Smart RTH will kick in if it calculates that you won't have enough battery to complete the mission if it continues. With that exception, Litchi will continue the mission until finished. The "Mission Ended" voice/warning is an unfixed issue with the DJI SDK, not Litchi, and can be ignored as it doesn't affect the mission.
