Hmmm, guess I might have to stop being a rebel on this one. Ok I have noticed that the specs on the mini 4 do not have gps.Is this a problem. I noted the language used on the dji info page about tablets, which said "currently the app does not require gps unless you move home location after starting to fly" The word "currently" has me worried. Advice anyone? And thanks to all those who replied to my original question. Very much appreciated.

Just make sure you get the cellular version because the cellular version DOES have GPS. But I think you shouldn't worry about getting a non cellular version unless you need to use features that actually require home location update like "follow me" mode.

The mobile device's GPS is only used for the Follow Me feature or to manually reset the home point to your current location after taking off. If you will not be using those features, then you do not need a mobile device with GPS.
