I have the P3A, the manual states: it's a reserved port, maybe different on the P3P model?

The micro usb is a reserved port and serves no function for pilots.........you can't use it for charging.

On the original phantoms (1,2) it was used for connecting to a pc, for updating the software for example.

On the P3 range, it is used to access the internal SD card that stores all of the flight logs in .DAT format. If you crash, this is the information that DJI will interrogate to ascertain how / why the craft crashed.
