Safe battery disposal

Hi everyone

Am busy with my OP's manual and need to find out, what is the safest way to dispose of any "old" or potentially "damaged" DJI Phantom 4 batteries? I just have the standard charger that comes with the Phantom at purchase, so if anyone out there knows of a system or technique to do this safely, it would be appreciated.

Best Buy has a battery recycle bin just inside the front door.

Put the battery in a 50/50 salt / tap water mix overnight and all the voltage should be gone the next day. Once the charge is completely depleted then you can just throw it away. Whats important is that the battery has no energy left so it doesn't explode/ catch fire after you throw it away. This is especially important Li/Po batteries.

Thanks for the advice guys. I like the sound of the 50/50 solution, but let's say I notice a damaged battery with 3/4 charge still remaining, how do I get it to a safe "low" voltage? Keeping in mind, I only have the charger that was purchased with the drone!
