I've been flying for a few years and never had this problem before.
DETAILS: We attempted to survey an area just outside a rural town for a client and after an hour still had issues with the connection. All the usual steps were followed, latest firmware installed and both UAV's calibrated on arrival. We were having issues with both Pix4D capture and DJI Go on our iphone and ipad mini.
AREA: Mostly consisted of a bitumised/tarmac surface and two large storage sheds approximately 100m away. There is no telcom towers anywhere nearby or known wifi surface. No residential or other infrastructure within 500m of the area.
PROBLEM: UAV’s disconnected from 5m up to 100m away from controller both horizontally and vertically and kept cutting in and out. The UAV's were launched off the hard surface and also off the side of the road on the gravel to avoid any magnetic influence the bluemetal surface on the road may have had
Any ideas as to why we would have had difficulties with connection in this area? Bizarre.
Thanks in advance,
