Phantom 3 standard after installing a new after market antenna. I did not due the compass calibration as everything looked ok. In a matter of a few seconds the drone did its own thing. I was unable to gain any control before it crashed into a golf fence where it stuck. Any help in identifying my error which I imagine was not calibrating the compass.
Oh man so apparently I wasn't logged in on my cell phone to the site and as I was going to add some pictures it told me I needed to log in and then when I logged in it just erased all my post and what I was going to say. So now I got to do it all over again. That was something I didn't know. So I busted my antenna on my version. 1. Phantom 3. Standard remote. I did solder it together but that's probably not going to work or last but I'm going to order something new. I just don't know that connection to the PCB board. What is that called? What's that size that I need to get and then I'm...
I posted this guide on the MavicPilots forum after the introduction of the Mavic Mini led to a significant increase in pilots asking for help diagnosing events and understanding log files. It may also be of some interest over here since most of it applies equally to other DJI equipment. While there is plenty of help and advice available on these forums, and detailed guidance and options on several other websites, I thought that perhaps a single summary of the subject might be useful. If it does prove useful then I'll try to keep it updated, either in this post or followup posts, and...

There is normally no need to recalibrate the compass.
The only exception is after modifications to the drone.
The usual cause of a yaw error is powering up the drone where magnetic interference deflects the compass which gives the gyro sensor incorrect directional data for it's initialisation.
Where did you power up the drone?
If you post the data that would help with confirmation of the cause.
All that's needed is to post the Airdata report after you tick the "share" box.
