controller noise and not working

i just took my new phantom 3 pro out of the box to set up etc. I charged the batteries on the drone and the controller and updated firmware after activating the aircraft. I was watching beginner videos and turned off the controller to save battery (my iPhone was connected to the controller). The controller lights went out but it started making a very high pitch continuous whining noise (still is after 30 minutes!). The controller will not stop the noise or turn on or anything. I even tried plugging the charger in but nothing happened. I have not even attempted to fly the drone yet. Anyone know what this means or how to stop the high pitch noise?

Did you figure out a fix for this? I have the same problem with my Phantom 3 advanced.
