my pic and laptop r too old. They run on Windows Xp and won't download the Dji assist program and run it. Need a new reliable reasonable laptop

That will depend on your budget and anything else that you want to run on the laptop. Put out a price range and you'll see suggestions come in.
Absolute bare bones. Not using it for much else. But it has to work using Cable plugged into Dji phantom 4 and use Dji assistant. I want to try and reset my drone to factory defaults and reload. It won't listen to the Rc so it won't fly. I think I had interference on an upgrade. It's linked and calibrated but only start and go up 4 feet on auto up only come down on auto ever since I downloaded latest software after I bought it. It's my last effort at flying this thing before I send it back
Take a look at the laptops for sale at the Microsoft Store. They sell them as "Signature Editions" which means they come with just Windows and no bloatware.
