Attempting my first flight....

Having viewed all the introductory videos I am (fairly) confident that I have addressed all the requirements. So I have today attempted my first flight, but I have had to stop due to the fact that each time I try to set the Home location on my iPhone 6 I receive the message "Warning - Home point not recorded". Qiestions:

1 - Is it safe to fly under these conditionos?, and
2 - If not how does one resolve this issue?
3 - Why am I getting this mesage?

Batteries all charged, firmware updated, IMU correctly calibrated, Compass set correctly......... just cant fly.

Looking forward to some help

The Home Point should set automatically after you turn the Phantom on and it has acquired enough satellites. Are you trying to fly indoors by any chance?
What does the centre panel at the top of the app show?

thanks for reply, no not indoors, out in fields, space as far as the eye can see, no obstructions.

Centre panel shows "aircraft warming up" then after a second attempt it suddenly automatically set home location. thanks for your help
