4K setup but 720pics

I have set up my P4P to film in 4K but when I put the card in my computer to edit it shows as 720. What am I doing wrong?
Also I only get about 5,5 mins per clip and then filming stops. How can I film longer clips?

1 hour of 4k footage is roughly 300GB of data. Divide that by 60 and you get roughly 5GB per min of footage. For a 32GB card that would basically fill the card up in around 5min.

Thanks for the reply. Yes my computer accepts 4K and I have a 128Gb card in the machine.

I know we're talking P4P here and I'm no expert, but is that actually correct?

I've filmed in 4K with my P3P and no way did it fill up my 32 GB card in 5 minutes. I can fly whilst filming at 4K for 15+ minutes and still have plenty of space left on my 32 Gb card.

So am I doing something wrong or have I missed something?

Also because I'm no expert, I've cut and pasted something I found with a search online.

The P3 camera has a maximum 4K bitrate of 60Mbit/sec (60 million bits per second).

This equates to 60M/8 = 7.5MB/sec (7.5 megabytes per second).

A 32GB card stores 32 x 2^10 MB = 32,768 megabytes.

Therefore the maximum video that you can fit is:

32,768/7.5 = 4369 seconds = 72 minutes = 1.21 hours

It also depends on the CODEC and the recorded frame rate. 24fps will be much smaller than 60fps.

As I said, I'm no expert, but I also found this on the dji forum:-

45GB per hour seems a lot different from 300 GB/hour though, even allowing for 'codecs'. Differences in frame rates, I understand.

So how could it fill up a 32 GB memory card in 5 minutes? To help me, can you please explain your calcs?

My ancient desktop PC would have a veritable electronic heart attack trying to play it, I fear....

Difficult to get your head round certainly but as far as I can see, there's still no indicator that the OP's problem is running out of card space - or why it only shows the recording as being 720p.

So, @Chris Abram, is your 128 GB card shown as being totally full when you take it out after 5.5 minutes of filming? I very much doubt it...

If not, then what are the actual video file size(s), in GB, that are shown?...

If you're saying you still have space but the maximum clip length is 5.5 minutes, then that wouldn't surprise me. Possibly something to do with the format protocol/limits of the SD card - with a P3P my files get split after 4GB,, the length of the clip cutoff varies owing to the variable data rate.

I tend to agree, but i'm tired of running numbers to do estimated calculations. A mathematician I am not. As far as the 720p goes, the only thing I can think of is that whatever editing software the op is using, defaults to that and converts it upon import. My binary math is not what it once was.
