Yes, they are still granting waivers even though the online list seems frozen. I got one last week and of course the list at the .gov website doesn't show me on it

I got my waiver no problem with "Pending" as certificate number on the application. I have 7 pilots in my program at work. All of us have taken 8 weeks to get the plastic

The Inspire is quite powerful compared to my own personal Phantom. It handles the wind pretty well. I wouldn't have flown my own aircraft in those conditions though. I don't think a Phantom would fare too well fighting against that.

It was 23 degrees with winds of 25 miles per hour yesterday morning when I was flying. Lowest we see here is single digits.

At my work, if we need to fly, we fly. Temperature doesn't change that. The Inspire I operate gives the low battery temp warning regularly. The only difference I see is about 30% shorter battery performance. I don't have any option other than landing more often and swapping in a fresh battery...

That is a good video. Some of the things are so basic sounding but I hadn't ever thought of them.

I fly an Inspire for my work which is fire department. It gives an aerial view of the emergency scene to the incident commander. At home I have a Phantom that I fly to maintain proficiency.

No need to freak out. Just hit the return to home button on the transmitter. It's also good policy to make your home point somewhat wide open without nearby obstacles like your 4 wheeler. They're pretty good about landing on the home point but often will vary a few feet here or there.

In my case it was 36 hours between when I submitted the application and when I was able to print a temporary. I'm not sure if that is typical though because I already have Airframe and Powerplant mechanics certificates through the FAA. That might have hastened my approval. I don't know.

My testing center supplied a really nice piece of clear plastic with crosshairs on it so I could lay it on the map and slide it around as needed. Much easier than trying to draw a straight line with your eyes or whatever.
