I thought the battery was charged as soon as it got up it wanted to land due to critical battery, I didn't realise.

Hi guys Purchased a DJI Phantom 1 for my son for christmas as a starter drone. We flew it for the first time today and managed to lose control of it somehow. I recovered it on a farmers field about 1km away and the drone was totally flat. I've tried to charge the battery with the balance...
